Crowne Plaza Hotel – Burr Ridge, IL Chicago

If you are searching for hotels in and around Chicago, it is easy to be overwhelmed with all of the options.

“Do we stay in the city?”

“Do we stay in the suburbs?”

“Is it family-friendly?”

“Is it conveniently located to the places we want to visit?”

While I was searching for family-friendly hotels around Chicago, I came across the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Burr Ridge, Illinois. It is about a 25 minute drive from downtown Chicago and was conveniently located near two of our destinations: the Brookfield Zoo and the Morton Arboretum. Welcome!

Upon entering, you are welcomed by a very spacious lobby. The decor is modern and classy, and there is plenty of space to sit and relax.

The lady who checked us in at the front desk was very friendly and accomodating. I have always believed that first impressions are everything and if our experience with her was any indication of how this stay was going to go, it was going to be a good one!

Home Away From Home

Crowne Plaza Hotel - Two Queen Room

During our visit, we stayed in a two queen bedroom, which was perfect for our family. The beds had plenty of pillows and the bedding was bright white, comfortable, and just what we needed after the car ride there.

Each room is equipped with a 43″ HDTV, mini fridge (inside the cabinet, under the t.v.), and a work space complete with Keurig machine and complimentary pods.

The bathroom featured a shower-tub combo, ample counter space, and plenty of towels. It even had a clock in the mirror which was helpful when getting a family ready in the morning.

My favorite part of the bathroom- yes, I have a favorite- was the Beekman 1805 toiletries. The lotion, shampoo, and conditioner are made with a combination of goat milk and a fresh citrus and green-leaf fragrance. It is no wonder they call it ‘Fresh Air.’ The smell alone was enough to wake you up in the morning, feeling revitalized and ready to take on the day.

What I liked most about them is that they are pure and simple: sulfate and paraben free, and also cruelty free. I may or may not have ordered some while sitting poolside.

Time To Get Wet!

Crowne Plaza Hotel - Indoor Pool

As with any hotel we stay in, within minutes after we check in and bring our luggage to the room, the kids are begging to go swimming. We threw on our swimsuits and headed on down.

The indoor pool reminded me of a great mid-century pool oasis with the neutral stone work and beautiful wood beams. The water was warm, and it was clean and modern with ample lounge chairs, tables, and towels.

Fitness Center

Are you more of a workout person versus a dip in the pool? If so, then you will love their state-of-the-art fitness center. It is full of strength training equipment, yoga balls, and cardio machines. There is something for everyone, no matter how you like to workout!

Sip & Savor ~ Cocktails & Eats

Crowne Plaza Hotel - Sip & Savor Bar

If your swim in the pool, or jog on the treadmill, has you craving something to eat, no worries! The hotel is home to the Sip & Savor Bar and Restaurant.

They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service, and their hours are 6am-10pm. So it doesn’t matter if you’re craving a sandwich, or a charbroiled rib eye, they’ve got you covered. Bonus is they even try to source from local farms whenever possible. How cool is that?!

Our Experience

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. We enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza so much, we could have stayed all week! Our kids loved the pool and my husband and I loved being able to relax in between our trip to the Brookfield Zoo and the Morton Arboretum. The complimentary wi-fi came in handy for checking emails and streaming our favorite Mister Rogers episode to help wind down after swimming.

If you’re searching for family-friendly hotels around Chicago, make sure you check out the Crowne Plaza in Burr Ridge. PERHAPS your family will love it as much as we did.
